The COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly evolving, so please stay attuned to the latest information at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov and www.lfchd.org As of March 5, no cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Kentucky. However, the state public health laboratory at the Kentucky Department for Public Health in Frankfort is now able to provide testing for COVID-19 with a limited number of test kits. Guidance concerning who should be considered for testing can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/hcp/clinical-criteria.html Clinicians should consider other causes of respiratory illness, including infections such as influenza, which is still widely circulating in Central Kentucky. The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department (LFCHD) can assist healthcare providers with decision-making and be a liaison with the state health department in the testing process for COVID-19. To contact LFCHD, clinicians can call our provider-only line: 859-335-7071. Information for the general public, including a one-page flyer, is available in both English and Spanish at www.lfchd.org
