Explorium: An Immersive, Learning Experience Where Children Learn Through Play
By J. Colby Ernest, J.D., Executive Director, Explorium of Lexington
The Explorium of Lexington is a staple in the heart of downtown Lexington. Located at 440 W. Short St., The Explorium of Lexington offers children ages 1 – 10 an immersive, learning experience where they learn through play. It’s where children develop foundations for academic and personal success. It’s where children play in an environment that is all about them. It’s where families learn and engage with each other, and where adults learn to play again.
Open since 1990, The Explorium’s mission is to create a fun and dynamic hands-on learning environment that inspires imagination and curiosity. We accomplish this through our interactive museum of 10 galleries, and through educational programming. For many years, The Lexington Medical Society has supported The Explorium’s “Around Town” gallery with a doctor’s office exhibit sponsorship and programming where children interact with their families and friends in this unique pretend play environment. The doctor’s office allows children to live out their dreams of being a real life doctor with stethoscopes, a scale, doctor’s jackets, an examination table, and much more!
With friends like the Lexington Medical Society, The Explorium has inspired imagination and curiosity in children for over 30 years. Learn more at www.explorium.com about all of our galleries, educational programming, and more!
