LMS Foundation Grant Recipient: Camp Horsin’ Around – Who We Are

Camp Horsin’ Around – Who We Are
By Carrie Truitt, Camp Horsin’ Around Executive Director

Camp Horsin’ Around enriches the lives of children whose health is compromised or who have special needs by collaborating with organized groups to provide an outdoor camp adventure.

Nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of Perryville, Kentucky, our 191-acre facility offers state-of-the-art ADA-accessible buildings, including five furnished and air-conditioned cabins, dining hall, and a medical building, and fully accessible activity areas such as a two-acre pond, swimming pool, miniature golf course, archery, and much more!

We host groups throughout Kentucky that serve children living with cancer, diabetes, asthma, kidney disease, sight or hearing impairment, autism, and other special healthcare needs. We also provide a camp home for hospice organizations as they support young family members through the loss of a loved one.

For over 1,000 campers each year, Camp Horsin’ Around enables them to exchange days filled with needles, doctor appointments, and hospital beds for those filled with laughter, friendship, and excitement!

Vision

At Camp Horsin’ Around, we have an inspired vision of providing the premier, fully adaptive camping facility for children whose lives are impacted by special healthcare needs.

Values

Hope – Opportunity – Respect – Safety – Inclusion – Nurturing
