2024 LMS President’s June Video Message: The Kentucky Blood Center – Live Local. Give Local.

A mission of the Lexington Medical Society is to improve the health of our community, and LMS has been doing this for over a century. Did you know that the Kentucky Blood Center was created in 1968 by the Fayette County Medical Society?   Dr. David Stevens, the 1968 medical society president, was integral in leading a group of dedicated physicians in developing a blood center for our state. Today, the Kentucky Blood Center is the largest FDA- licensed nonprofit blood bank in Kentucky, providing services in 90 Kentucky counties and supplying more than 70 hospitals.  LMS member and Medical Director of the Kentucky Blood Center, Dr. Dennis Williams, describes the impact the blood center continues to have on the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
