Mission Health Lexington: 20 Years of Health and Healing for Our Neighbors in Need
Every day, thousands of adults in our community wake up with untreated dental pain, uncontrolled blood pressure, failing vision, or prescriptions they cannot afford. They are the working poor, the recently uninsured, and the chronically ill who fall through the cracks. At Mission Health Lexington, we exist so that lack of insurance or income does not have to mean lack of care.
Founded in 2005, Mission Health Lexington is a nonprofit free clinic providing comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and pharmacy services at no cost to uninsured adults in our community who are living at or below 185% of the federal poverty level. Our clinic is conveniently located in downtown Lexington at 230 S. Martin Luther King Blvd.
A Collaborative Model of Care
Our work is powered by the extraordinary generosity of the Lexington community. Physicians, dentists, pharmacists, optometrists, and other health professionals, alongside professional students and interpreters, volunteer their time and expertise to deliver compassionate, culturally responsive care. In 2024 alone, nearly 100 licensed providers gave hundreds of hours to deliver more than 2,500 patient visits across our four clinics. At Mission Health Lexington, medical, dental, vision, and pharmacy services come together under one roof. A patient living with diabetes, for example, can receive A1C testing with a physician, an annual vision screening with an optometrist, dental care to address periodontal disease, and the medications needed to manage their condition from our pharmacy. This comprehensive model not only improves health outcomes and reduces costly emergency department visits but also preserves the dignity of people who might otherwise have nowhere to turn.
