Save the Date: LMS Healthy Cooking Class, June 13th, 2026

LMS is excited to launch a new series of healthy cooking classes for our membership, beginning on Saturday, June 13th at 5:00 PM at the University of Kentucky’s Learning Kitchen. Registration opens May 12th, and space is limited to 20 participants. Members are welcome to bring their spouses, so please register only if you plan to attend.

LMS leadership participated in a pilot class on April 25th and thoroughly enjoyed learning from Temurbek Burikhanov (“Chef Tem”), Program Coordinator and Learning Kitchen Manager for The Food Connection at the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. Chef Tem, known for his engaging teaching style, led the group in a state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen equipped with overhead cameras projecting his techniques onto a large screen.

Participants were divided into two groups of five, each with its own fully stocked preparation station. Chef Tem guided everyone through the steps of preparing a colorful Mediterranean-inspired dish featuring a variety of vegetables, spices, and sauces. One group prepared a mushroom-based entrée, while the other created a fish-based version.

The hands-on instruction and meal preparation took about 45 minutes, and participants enjoyed eating the dishes they created. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with all attendees saying they would gladly participate again.
