Why did you become a physician?
When I was a child, I had to have a surgery, which left a lasting impact on me and I also had a phenomenal family physician. Both of these experiences showed me the potential impact that physicians can have on some of the most stressful times of patients’ lives. Additionally, I always wanted to find a career focused on helping people, and I really enjoyed the science of medicine so becoming a physician was the right fit for me.
Tell us about your educational and professional background.
I completed my undergraduate studies at Youngstown State University, followed by medical school at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. I then completed residency in anesthesiology and am currently completing a cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship at the University of Kentucky.
What are your interests outside of medicine?
I am a big hiker, skier, and really enjoy spending time outside when I can. Also, I am a foodie and am always down to try a new restaurant or ice cream flavor.
Why did you join the Lexington Medical Society?
When I was a medical student, I noticed that sometimes it was easy to find mentorship, but frequently it was challenging. I am always eager to join initiatives like the LMS so I can do what I can to serve as a resource to the students to best optimize their chances of success. Additionally, I enjoy being involved in the community and wanted to contribute to the Lexington community as best as I could while I am here.
